Inversions & Arm Balances: Finding Lightness & Strength

Join Jessica Puglié for a fun and productive afternoon of inversions and arm balances!

Are you curious about inversions and arm balancing? Would you like to learn more about it?

Whether you are an experienced practitioner looking for a challenge or a more beginner one afraid of going upside down or on your arms, this workshop is for you!

You will learn the mechanics of these poses, the awareness that comes with them in a safe, not judgmental environment, overcoming the fear of failing or falling. This workshop aims to break down various inversions and arm balancing poses (including forearmstand, headstand and handstand).

We start with a short breathing exercise, followed by a fun flow with repetition of functional organic movements, coordination, and Yoga poses with a focus on mobility and strength to warm up, engage the core, the bandhas and bring awareness to the body and the mind. Then we will try different arm balances and inversions with a guided conversation about anatomy. We will break down the mechanics of each pose, step by step. You will be able to experiment with the poses though a different approach to the practice, with variations for all levels, finishing with a short well deserved final relaxation. You will be guided to feel and sense every single movement and transition, through the power of gravity, opposite forces, and your own intuition.

Come, learn and play...all levels welcome!

About Jessica:

Jessica is a senior Yoga teacher with 18 years of experience. Previously trained as a dancer, her Yoga training includes 200-hour and 500-hour advanced Dharma yoga under the teaching of Sir Dharma Mittra and hot yoga, which she also taught as a senior teacher.

In her 18 years of teaching she have taught classes, Yoga retreats/holidays and workshops in Italy, London, and Indonesia. In London she taught in renowned yoga centers Triyoga and Indaba yoga. Her interest in alternative therapies and anatomy led her to attend several courses including reflexology, Anatomytrains fascia seminars, Forrest yoga continuing education for teachers and a Soft Tissue therapy course in London. Lately she has returned to attending dance classes and anatomy courses with therapists, teachers, and choreographers (Tom Mayer, Russel Maliphant). Combining her experience in the physical/therapeutic field of yoga, the study of philosophy, breathing exercises/meditation with her dance experience, at present she teaches a dynamic mix of different styles and traditions. Her asana teaching also includes repetitions of functional and organic movements, mirroring multidimensional actions of everyday life, coordination, strength, and flexibility.

The style is a mix between the traditional and the experimental, creative, playful and in constant evolution, full of variations for all levels of practice. She is a firm believer in the power of conscious movement and in the unique power of intuition that everyone possesses, that gives us the ability to find space, freedom and control of body and mind.

Registered with Yoga Alliance as ERYT 500 PLUS Senior LVL 4 yoga teacher, she also teaches a 25-hour intensive called "Natural Yoga" and a 50-hour teacher training program called "Anatomy and the art of movement" in which she transmits all her knowledge of years of experience, from breathing exercises/meditation, anatomical application in postures and transitions, to the art of teaching creative and functional sequences following the organic movement of the body. She is also a member of the Italian sports association CSI.

She really enjoys watching people discover the power of their own intuition through experimentation, concentration, observation, and action...and of course movement!
